About the Library

KIOT Library has an excellent infrastructure. There are various sections consist of Stack Room, Reference Section, Reading Room, Circulation Section, Periodical Section. KIOT Library has vast collections of Books, Journals, Electronic Journals, Electronic Books, Online Database, Magazines, CDs & DVDs for the branches of Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Civil, Industrial Safety, VLSI, Embedded Systems, MBA and Science & Humanities. It also has a lot of collections of Spiritual, Health, Personality Development, Tamil and Placement & Training Books.

Many colleges and universities have large academic libraries. These libraries are for the use of college students, professors, and researchers. Academic libraries are used mainly for doing research like studying the solar system or how earthquakes happen. These libraries do not have the same types of books you would find in a public library. They usually do not have fiction books or books for children (unless they are being studied). Academic libraries can have many books, sometimes more than a million.


Rules and regulations

The library rules are regulations are introduced to regularize the use of the library resources and will be reviewed periodically to meet the changing needs.

  1. The Central Library operates from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on all weekdays. On Sundays, the operating hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  2. One hour per week is allocated for library use within the academic timetable.
  3. Patrons are expected to observe strict silence within the library premises.
  4. All users are required to swipe their identification card upon entering the library.
  5. Users are requested to deposit their bags and personal belongings at the designated property counter.
  6. The use of mobile phones is strictly forbidden within the library premises. Users are advised to ensure their mobile phones are set to silent mode.
  7. Students are permitted to borrow books for a loan period of 15 days, while staff members may retain borrowed books for up to 6 months.
  8. Consecutive renewals are limited to a maximum of two instances.
  9. To renew the books, the borrower need to bring them with you to the library front desk.
  10. Books borrowed under ones membership from the central library are non-transferable to any other member. Furthermore, the use of another members identification card for borrowing purposes is strictly prohibited.
  11. Magazines and journals are deposited for reference within the library only and are not for circulation. After taking notes or reference, these materials must be replaced to their respective locations..
  12. Any form of defacement, including underlining, scribbling, or tearing of pages in books, journals, and other library resources, is strictly monitored. Similarly, mishandling or misuse of library computers is prohibited.
  13. All borrowed library materials are to be returned on or before the designated due date.
  14. If the book is lost by the students or faculty members, they have to replace the same copy within a stipulated time. If the particular book is not available in the market, double the cost is collected from the person concerned.
